Co-opted Governors

Sally West (Chair of Local Governing Body)

I have lived in Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire for 50 years having moved from London.

I worked for John Players in their research laboratories as a microbiologist until 1980.

My husband and I have a small upholstery company which we started 50 years ago. I am a director of the company and still have an active role in the day to day running of the business.

I have been an active member of the schools Parents & Friends Association since the early 1980s. The funds raised are used to help part fund trips or activities for the children to enrich their experiences.

I was a parent governor at Ironville & Codnor Park School until my daughter left in 1991.

I returned as a governor at the school in 2000 and have been chair of governors for many years. I am committed to trying to help every child achieve his or her full potential by holding the school to account and acting as a critical friend.

Jane Grundy

I have been at Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School since I qualified as a teacher and I have worked as a Partner Headteacher and was appointed full-time Headteacher in January 2017. I still feel that it is important for me to teach and understand the growing pressures upon my staff and pupils)

Our core values as a whole school are to provide the children with a first-class education and enable them to care about themselves, each other and the world in which they live. We celebrate that all children are unique and allow and encourage them to believe, achieve and ultimately to succeed.

I am extremely proud to be part of this school with a dedicated staff team, a supportive and challenging local governing board and wonderful children.

'Since I have been in post, it is evident that a great investment has already been made in the provision of opportunities for pupil and staff personal development. My original estimation is proving to be correct… In simple terms, SHINE is doing what it says on the tin! From a newly appointed Headteacher’s point of view, I strongly feel that I have had nothing but exceptional help, advice and support. I can furthermore see that this network of support and advice, which comes from the SHINE organisation is readily available at all levels.' Laura DiMartino - Headteacher Whitemoor Academy 'The schools which are part of the Trust, are all very different but we all share the passion for giving children the very best and the dedication which is required to make this happen. Working with like-minded people is both a privilege and a challenge.' Kate Hall - Headteacher Scotholme Primary 'We strongly believe in the values and ethos of SHINE and therefore, for us, it was a no-brainer as to which trust to join. We're proud that we are one the first schools to become part of this forward thinking establishment.' Stuart Moody - Headteacher Ranskill Primary 'Since Easter the school has been working with the SHINE to improve standards in teaching and learning. Staff morale has improved dramatically and everyone feels valued and appreciated.' Jane Parker - Headteacher Ironville and Codnor Park Primary Read More
