Response to Coronavirus
The way our academies are currently operating in response to coronavirus (COVID-19) is fundamentally different to business as usual; however, there are a number of important safeguarding principles that remain the same:
Our processes in response to COVID-19 will not weaken our approach to safeguarding or undermine our policy. Where one of our academies need to collaborate and children and/or staff from multiple settings are clustered in one place, the principles in KCSIE and our guidance continue to apply. In particular, the academy that is acting as the hub in the cluster should continue to provide a safe environment, keep children safe and ensure staff and volunteers have been appropriately checked and risk assessments carried out as required.
The CEO will monitor government guidance and ensure headteachers and DSLs are informed of any information which will enable them to keep children and staff safe: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-safeguarding-in-schools-colleges-and-other-providers/coronavirus-covid-19-safeguarding-in-schools-colleges-and-other-providers
