We are proud to be part of SHINE Multi Academy Trust (SHINE) as their appointed North Nottinghamshire local governing body (LGB).
Our LGB has a clear vision and strategic direction for Ranskill Primary School and Langold Community School (academies) in order to uphold the high standards of achievement and secure the safety and well-being of all pupils and staff. This also allows us to hold the headteachers to account in terms of the educational performance.
We are privileged to support the academies as volunteers and are fully committed to uphold the values and ethos of the academy, which are encompassed in these two maxims:
We are also extremely proud of our staff and pupils achievements across both academies and Ranskill were determined as a ‘Good’ school when they were last inspected in November 2019.
As we continue to support the headteachers in their role, we are focused on academy improvement. High among our priorities is ensuring that all our pupils, including those with special needs and/or disability, are well supported. As well as this, we play close attention to how the Pupil Premium and P.E. and Sports Premium grants is spent and the impact this has on outcomes.
We work closely with staff to fulfil our quality assurance role through our activities such as monitoring visits and meeting with the school councils. This engagement enables us to confidently support and challenge leadership as a critical friend. There are link governors who have responsibility for:
Reports are submitted to the LGB to ensure all governors have an opportunity to understand the successes and areas of improvement across every area of academy performance.
We also work closely with SHINE to review and agree policies which are published on our schools websites https://www.langold-dyscarr.org/policies/ and https://www.ranskillprimary.co.uk/policies/ and are available through the school offices.
With the enthusiasm and dedication of our headteachers and their staff, along with the knowledge and collaboration that comes with being part of SHINE, we believe we are able to maintain and develop the excellent education on offer for all our pupils.
Minutes of our meetings are public documents – you can request these via our school office or by contacting our clerk (clerk@shine-mat.com).
Yours faithfully
Dot Perkins
