Message from the Chair

As the Chair of the Board, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to the SHINE Multi Academy Trust (SHINE) website.

SHINE was formed on 1 December 2016, Whitemoor Academy was the founding primary provision and we have quickly grown across three counties; Ranskill Primary School (1 January 2017), Scotholme Primary and Nursey School (1 February 2017), Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School (1 March 2018) and Langold Dyscarr Community School (set to join 1 March 2019) and was created to secure our ethos of 'SHINE' 'TAKE CARE' and 'DARE to be DIFFERENT'. I am personally proud to be part of this growing trust who ensures the values of PROVISION, ENHANCEMENT and ENRICHMENT - when combined together proportionally - create a unique and high quality education for every pupil to achieve academically and to SHINE individually.

SHINE is most definitely centred around people - pupils, staff, parents, trustees, local governors and communities and their importance remains at the heart of everything we do. The growth of SHINE is benefiting each academy and all are beginning to see the benefits of economies of scale and the sharing of good practice by utilising the expertise of excellent practitioners; thus SHINE ensures that staff continue to develop to meet the needs of pupils.

The Trustees and our local governors feel passionately about education for the next generation; SHINE strives to find that something special and offers a personalised learning experience for all. This drive for excellence is well recognised in all our academies and pupil progress is a significant ‘good news’ story as they all have incredible learning journeys with many achieving excellent results.

On this website you will be able to find news and information about what is going on within the SHINE and through the links, more detail about what is happening in each of our academies. You can also find information about our members and trustees here.

I do hope that you find what you need from our website and please get in touch if you have any further questions or feedback about the work of SHINE and our academies.

Chris Coverley – Chair of the Board

'Since I have been in post, it is evident that a great investment has already been made in the provision of opportunities for pupil and staff personal development. My original estimation is proving to be correct… In simple terms, SHINE is doing what it says on the tin! From a newly appointed Headteacher’s point of view, I strongly feel that I have had nothing but exceptional help, advice and support. I can furthermore see that this network of support and advice, which comes from the SHINE organisation is readily available at all levels.' Laura DiMartino - Headteacher Whitemoor Academy 'The schools which are part of the Trust, are all very different but we all share the passion for giving children the very best and the dedication which is required to make this happen. Working with like-minded people is both a privilege and a challenge.' Kate Hall - Headteacher Scotholme Primary 'We strongly believe in the values and ethos of SHINE and therefore, for us, it was a no-brainer as to which trust to join. We're proud that we are one the first schools to become part of this forward thinking establishment.' Stuart Moody - Headteacher Ranskill Primary 'Since Easter the school has been working with the SHINE to improve standards in teaching and learning. Staff morale has improved dramatically and everyone feels valued and appreciated.' Jane Parker - Headteacher Ironville and Codnor Park Primary Read More
